The availability, reliability and capacity of structures as part of infrastructure, nowadays and in the future, are very important for the economical activities and development of regions and cities. Asset management of bridges, tunnels and other infrastructure needs insight in the condition of their structures through proper assessment. Therefore co-operation of all disciplines, like researchers, designers, owners, contractors, etc. is necessary to share, develop and explore knowledge and new solutions.
The condition of the structure can be leading for future decisions like:
- Continuation of the present situation;
- Changing the maintenance schedule;
- Immediate repair;
- Upgrading the structure for higher capacity.
The Dutch and Belgian groups of IABSE organize a conference that focuses on the assessment, maintenance, repair and upgrading of structures in infrastructure.
